Nigeria elections: Winner Buhari vows to defeat Boko Haram and tackle corruption


The winner of Nigeria’s presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari, has issued a vow to defeat militants Boko Haram, saying they would “soon know the strength of our collective will”. He also promised to tackle corruption which has eaten deep into the Nigerian system. The former General won the elections ahead of the incumbent president Jonathan by a margin of 2,571,759 votes. Several World leaders have since congratulated Gen Buhari and hailed the leadership of the Electoral commission as well as Nigerian as a whole.
